The Business
DSTi: Best of Breed asset and work management software solutions For over 20 years, DST International (DSTi) has concentrated on the development and implementation of 'best of breed' asset management and work management systems, which are now installed in over 700 of the most prestigious names in the industry in 55 countries worldwide.

The Challenge
DSTi needed to rapidly expand their Bangkok Development Center (BDC) to provide off-shoring services to global internal clients and to do this without overloading their HR resources

As a leader in asset management and work management solutions, the timely delivery and support of high quality new systems and product enhancements is key to DSTi’s global success.  DSTi’s solutions play a mission critical role in their customers’ asset management, medical and brokerage business and must meet stringent standards of reliability.  To maintain total control of all aspects of quality and project management whilst taking advantage of the economies of offshore development, DSTi decided in 2003 to expand their existing facility in Bangkok and to make it one of their global hubs for in-house development.

This required a sustained mass recruitment effort from DSTi that would draw on their HR and other management resources to such a level as to seriously overload these resources and/or pull them away from core production activities.

The next challenge was to assimilate such a large number of new staff, and the scheduling of induction and other training programs.

DSTi also needed to create pull in the IT talent market through a ‘career opportunity brand’ associated with the DSTi logo and name.

The Solution
A twin-track approach to market the DSTi brand to the widest possible Thai IT professional talent pool and to process the largest number of candidates in the quickest time possible whilst maintaining a consistent DSTi message throughout.

Throughout the project DSTi mandated eTechnology to fulfill all of their hiring requirements, to build brand awareness for DSTi and to ensure that the management of these programs and the messages generated by these programs were consistent.

The branding program was rolled out over a number of months, and progressively brought the DSTi name, and a strong projection of DSTi’s culture, to a wider and wider audience.

Ongoing Relationship
DSTi is now one of the largest software development employers in Thailand and has self-recruitment programs.  They continue to partner with eTechnology on strategy, research and fast-track hiring projects.

With a current staff of some 450, and plans to grow to 1,000+, DSTi has now built an in-house recruitment program based on the original DSTi/ET model and has fulfilled its initial growth objective.  As they move forward with their expansion plans, eTechnology continues to be a partner for DSTi, and provide them with much-needed industry and market analysis and expert advice, especially with regards to expanding their support capability to US and UK based clients.

eTechnology also works closely with the DSTi executive team to define fast-track hiring and cross-training programs.

The relationship continues to be a win-win relationship, with both parties enjoying real, measurable results over the past four years.
